The Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change is an interdisciplinary organization conducting research, independent policy analysis, and public communication on issues of global environmental change. The Program combines the capabilities of two MIT research centers: the Center for Global Change Science (CGCS) and the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEPR).
Program research integrates natural and social science aspects of climate change to produce analyses crucial to ongoing national and international discussions. Efforts are anchored by the MIT Integrated Global System Model (IGSM) of economic and environmental change—a comprehensive research tool based on an interlacing set of computer models designed to facilitate analysis of the delicate social and scientific factors that underlie policy development.
