Deepa’s research integrates lab-based studies of algae, field-based observations, and computational models to answer questions regarding the role of microbial interactions in marine systems. Currently she is focused on developing phytoplankton functional types to implement in a global ocean microbial ecosystem model to answer questions regarding Antarctic coastal marine ecosystems.
