Alexandra Pontefract

Research Scientist

Dr. Alexandra Pontefract is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Search for Extraterrestrial Genomes (SETG) Project and is based at Simches Research Centre, MGH. She is a geomicrobiologist interested in habitat generation through impact bombardment, deep subsurface life and life-detection techniques and instrumentation. Dr. Pontefract has extensive arctic field experience, and has served as science and instrument leads on several analogue mission deployments. In her previous work with the Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration, she served as Science PI for the Canadian Space Agency / CREATE analogue mission program. Dr. Pontefract also has an active involvement in public outreach activities, including public talks at museums, teaching videos, and work with the Cambridge Science Festival.
