Alicia Gressent

Postdoctoral Associate

I am a postdoc associate in the Center for Global Change Science. I am working with Pr. Ron Prinn in the estimate of the emissions of greenhouse gases and ozone depleting substances by performing inverse modeling using the AGAGE (Advanced Global Atmospheric Gases Experiment) in situ measurements. I am currently working on several VOCs (mainly propane and ethane) influencing the tropospheric ozone production at large scale and a fairly unknown but a significant greenhouse gas, the Sulfuryl Fluoride (SO2F2). More specifically, I use the 3D chemical transport model MOZART-4. I use the CELS approach to improve the estimate of the SO2F2 and VOCs emissions. This method combines Eulerian (MOZART-4 model) and Lagrangian (NAME model) sensitivities.

My research objectives are mainly to contribute to our understanding of the atmospheric chemistry closely related to both pollution and climate change. I got my PhD from « University Paul Sabatier de Toulouse» in France in September 2015, working on the characterization and the sub-grid modeling of lightning plumes in order to estimate their impact on NOx and O3 burden at large scale.
