This month, we welcome David Wright as Assistant to the Department Head and wish Allison Provaire all the best in her new position in MIT's Quest for Intelligence. Xiaoming Li and Artem Burdanov join the department as Postdocs. Congratulations to Stephanie Dutkiewicz, who has been promoted to Senior Research Scientist and to Gregory Britten, now a Postdoctoral Fellow.

Xiaoming Li joins the Wisdom group as a postdoctoral fellow. Li investigates strategies to obtain reliable solutions of chaotic dynamic systems in numerical simulations. He's looked into orbits in the three-body problem.

Li holds PhD and bachelor's degrees in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the South China University of Technology, respectively.

Artem Y. Burdanov joins the De Wit group as a postdoctoral associate, off campus in Spain. His research is at the nexus of high-precision optical and IR photometry, transiting exoplanets around ultracool dwarfs, and robotic telescopes. Until recently, Burdanov worked in the SPECULOOS Southern Observatory (SSO) and TRAPPIST consortiums and operated their telescopes. He has been developing the SSO data reduction pipeline and exploiting the first scientific data from the SSO. He also performed ground-based follow-up research of the TRAPPIST-1 system.

Burdanov has a PhD in space sciences from the University of Liège, master's degree in information systems from Ural Federal University and a bachelor's in formation systems from A.M. Gorky Ural State University.
