Subjects

Our Department has developed a diverse array of undergraduate and graduate subjects encompassing all areas of the earth, atmospheric, and planetary sciences. From “Meteorite from Mars Kills Dog: the Inside Story on Planets” to “Seminar in Geophysics: Advanced Methods in Earthquake Location,” the broad scope and volume of EAPS subjects makes it possible for students to focus intensely on one area of study or pursue an interdisciplinary course of study across two or more fields of the geophysical sciences.

Select subjects in the areas of “Atmospheres, Oceans, and Climate” (12.7xx) and “Geological, Geophysical, and Chemical Oceanography” (12.8xx) are taught by faculty at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) as part of our participation in the MIT/WHOI Joint Program.

All members of EAPS are free to attend the wealth of special seminars offered throughout the academic year by our own as well as visiting faculty.

Registration for courses is completed through WEBSIS. Please pay close attention to the MIT Academic Calendar to make sure you are aware of deadlines and avoid late fees.
