Interests
Measurement of the strength of water ice-bearing planetary materials in laboratory experiments at high pressures and extreme temperatures, including but not limited to ice-sand mixtures and ice-clathrate mixtures. The former serve as an analog for Martian soils and the latter for subsurface solids on the Saturnian moon Enceladus – a 300-km-wide icy world jetting geysers near its south pole that form Saturn’s E-ring. Multi-material flows in general float my boat and I relish my attempts to understand them.
